A colorful, lively place. Can find any kind of Chinese souvenir kitch you are seeking here -- everything from wallets to statuary to purses to keychains, etc ... Found four lovely scarves for my daughters here. Don, a fellow flautist, purchased a beautiful Chinese flute. Something here for everyone...
We enjoyed the food offerings in the Night Market the most. Such wonderful sights and sounds and smells. Tried a type of pork sandwich, which was amazingly delicious. We asked the exceptionally friendly vendor woman to add "la" (hot spice), and my lips were on fire for about an hour after consuming this yummy sandwich.
As you know, markets are one of my favorite places to explore. I remember being in the Muslim Quarter Night Market in Xi'an during the summer of 2014. This was my favorite market, ever. Walking involved moving through crowds of people, all competing for you to purchase something from them. This was a market that appealed to all of the senses, and I wanted to remain long into the night. We had a late dinner of a famous dish in the quarter, where customers tore bread into miniature pieces to place in the lamb dish.
At the Wushan Night Market, we observed many locals, out with family and/or friends, sharing food. One of the food alleys required a customer to buy 50 yuan of tickets, so that the actual vendors didn't have to handle cash. Other street alleys accepted cash.
We found a wonderful store that featured various types of Chinese medicine, with a great deal of expensive ginseng. Many of the roots and herbs were packaged beautifully. Others were displayed in jars and could be purchased by weight.
And then there were the sculptures... and the pagoda on the hillside. Beautiful.
